Off Cherbourg, the new French submarine, the Suffren, began its sea trial campaign on April 28. Towed and escorted off Cherbourg, he carried out his first apparatus and his first dive, a stage which marks the start of a test campaign of several months which promises to be particularly intense.
Officially launched on July 12 in the presence of the President of the Republic, this first Barracuda-type submarine actually did not float freely before the beginning of February. Between these two dates, the submarine carried out several tests in the open air before being put into water, its reactor was recharged with nuclear fuel last fall, allowing a first convergence (ignition) of the reactor at middle of December.
