Among the main European defense programs, the French SCORPION program undoubtedly holds a very special place. Truly structuring, it plans nothing less than to modernize in depth not only the equipment but also the doctrines of the tactical units of the Army.
Open since 2018 has some form of European cooperation, via the Belgian CaMo program, the SCORPION program (Synergy of the COntact Reinforced by Polyvalence and Info valorisatiON) provides for the development of several new vehicles, the renovation of equipment, but also and above all the establishment of an infovalorised combat system, the SICS , which will propel the French Army and the Belgian Land Component to the forefront of the digital ground forces.
The SCORPION program and infovaluation
The first reflections on the renewal of the Army's tactical combat capabilities date back to the end of the 1990s, and are reinforced by the first feedback from the Afghan conflict. With the exception of Leclerc tanks and 8 × 8 VBCI infantry fighting vehicles, almost all of the Army's vehicles date from the 1970s, whether it is the VAB transport vehicle (Vehicle Armored Front) or ERC-90 and AMX-10RC combat and reconnaissance vehicles.
