The format of the French armies results, today, from two master documents, namely the White Paper of 2013, ordered by President Hollande after his election and published in 2014, and the Strategic Review of 2017, ordered after the election of President Macron, and published a few months later. However, the first was written before major geostrategic upheavals which have marked the current decade (Crimea, Donbass, China Sea, Daesh, etc.), and the second was instructed to respect the framework defined by this same White Paper. In fact, and for 7 years now, the format of the French armies has been evolving on the basis of a document which was outdated and inadequate even before its entry into force, due to all the events that occurred between the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014 ( Crimea, Mali, Donbass, CAR...). However, in the period 2013-2019, and in what we know about future projections, the evolution of the threats that the French armies will have to face will have been, and will be, very important, both from a qualitative point of view, as quantitative and technological.
