Until now, the only clearly defined objective in terms of global military capabilities for Beijing was to achieve, by 2047, the centenary of the creation of the People's Republic of China, the world rank. This objective, posed by President Xi Jinping, until today seemed sufficiently distant to give Westerners, and in particular the United States, time to react to neutralize it. But things could well accelerate for the Middle Empire, since on the occasion of the 5th plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, the highest governing authority of the country, the latter to order the country's armies to speed up their modernization efforts so that Chinese military might reflect the economic power of the country, and thus be the second world military power, and this before 2027.

The date of 2027 is not trivial, since it is this year that, according to several economic projections, Chinese GDP should exceed that of the United States, making the country the world's largest economy. So that we give credit to the GDP in Purchasing Power Parity, supposed to reflect the equivalence of average wealth of a country compensated for exchange rate variations and the cost of living, Beijing had already passed Washington for several years.
