Russia in turn deploys forces along its border with Belarus

While internal tensions surrounding the conduct of the presidential election are growing in Minsk with the arrest of the campaign leader of the opponent Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, relations with the Russian neighbor are also at their worst. A few days ago, following the arrest of around thirty Russian men presented as paramilitaries belonging to the Russian private military company Wagner and suspected by Minsk of having entered the country to generate unrest during the presidential elections, President Alexander Lukashenko ordered the deployment of nearly 3000 men on the Russian border, so as to prevent a "Ukrainian scenario", namely a flash intervention of Russian forces to seize the centers of power, as did the special forces of Moscow in Crimea in 2014.

But the Kremlin obviously did not taste Belarusian inclinations, and ordered the deployment of a mechanized force of 3000 men on the same border, taking care to specify that heavy tanks were taking part in this deployment. Concretely, the Russian authorities have therefore mobilized 3000 men and 800 vehicles belonging to the combined force of the Western Military District Guard, meaning that this force has all the necessary elements to conduct a military operation.
