China launches second Type 075 assault helicopter carrier

The event was at least anticipated, especially since Thursday April 23 will mark the 71st anniversary of the creation of the People's Liberation Army. This Wednesday April 22, the second Type 075 assault helicopter carrier launched at the Hudong Zhonghua shipyards, near Shanghai. This is the second launch of a vessel of this type in just 7 months, its sister-ship and first unit in the class having been launched on September 24, 2019 in these same shipyards.

If this launch was expected, it was nonetheless staged by the Chinese authorities, who heavily insisted on the respect of the production schedule of the Chinese military naval industry, despite the Covid19 coronavirus crisis which hit the country before spreading over the planet. By doing so, they show their resilience, particularly in the face of European and American shipyards, which have announced for the most part reductions, or even suspensions of production, due to the pandemic.
