Russian manufacturers present new armored vehicles

The range of modern armored vehicles offered by Russian industry is expanding at high speed, with the presentation of two new armored vehicles by their manufacturer, the Uralvagonzavod company.

The BMMP is an amphibious infantry fighting vehicleintended for Russian marine troops. Equipped with a 57mm cannon and capable of exceeding 70 km/h on the road and 30 km/h in the water, the BMMP uses the chassis of the new Kurganet-25 infantry fighting vehicle, and will serve as the basis for the development of a family of armored vehicles, ranging from light tanks equipped with a 125 mm cannon to armored command or reconnaissance vehicles. It carries 10 equipped soldiers, and is operated by a crew of 3 people. The first deliveries of this armored vehicle could take place as early as 2023.

The Armata family is also growing with the TOS-2, a multiple rocket launcher capable of launching 24 220mm thermobaric rockets. Evolution of the TOS-1A from which it takes the turret, it uses the chassis of the T-14 Armata, its crew of 3 members arranged in an autonomous security capsule, as well as the Afghanit armor. No delivery date is communicated for the TOS-2, but it is unlikely that it will occur before 2025, the production of the T-14 and T-15 being regularly postponed and reduced, due to technical difficulties and a high price of units.
