One of the biggest surprises emanating from the conflict in Ukraine will undoubtedly have been the inability of the Russian air forces, despite aligning a thousand fighters and fighter-bombers, to gain air superiority over Ukraine, from made of a clever and very effective mesh of S-300, Buk and other Osa air defenses throughout the territory by the Ukrainian general staff. Not only will the preventive strikes carried out on February 24, 2022 not in the least have decapitated the means available to the Ukrainians, but after a year of war, the Russian air forces have still not managed to eliminate this threat, forcing them to more often to use very expensive and rare stand-off munitions to strike their objectives in Ukraine.
