According to an article published by the Tass agency, citing a source at the Russian Defense Ministry, the latter is preparing to order a new batch of "several dozen" (48 according to previous information) of Su-34 tactical bombers, in a modernized version incorporating electronics and equipment developed through the experimental Sych program.

This new order, which should be formalized by the summer, will reinforce the approximately 130 Su-34s currently in service with the Russian air force, probably replacing the oldest Su-24 bombers.

This announcement is hardly a surprise. Indeed, it had been expected for several months, when the production schedule of the Russian aviation industry had been modified to integrate the production of the new Su-57 Felon, in order to maintain production at the NAPO aircraft plant in Novosibirsk, until production of the Okhotnik-B combat drone, while the last Su-34s from the previous order will be delivered this year.
