SAAB's new lightweight torpedo is set to revolutionize coastal anti-submarine warfare

Last week, Sweden's SAAB announced that it had fired its new SLWT (Saab Lightweight Torpedo) torpedo for the first time, both from a Visby corvette and from a Swedish Navy Gotland-class submarine. Called Torped 47 in the Swedish Navy, the SLWT has already been exported to Finland. The torpedo should be operational on surface ships at the end of 2022, and in early 2023 on Swedish submarines.
