Russian forces prevail in Electronic Warfare in the Donbass

If during the first two months of the war, the Russian armies seemed unable to impose themselves in the field of electronic warfare, recent reports concerning the fighting in the Donbass indicate that Moscow would have learned the lessons of these past failures and now relies on a very intense electromagnetic jamming on this theater.

Dreaded before the war in Ukraine, the Russian armies' electronic warfare capabilities were surprisingly ineffective during the first weeks of the conflict, allowing Ukrainian forces to carry out coordinated actions of numerous small combat groups, supported by a large number of drones and very effective artillery. One could then think that the anticipated capabilities of the Russian armies in this area had been, as was the case in others, overestimated. However, for several weeks, while fighting has been raging in the Donbass region, Russian forces are much more efficient in this area, by implementing a powerful jamming hampering communication and the use of Ukrainian drones, as well as significant listening and geolocation capabilities in the electromagnetic spectrum, effectively handicapping the effectiveness of the strategy which made the success of the Ukrainian armies at the start of the conflict.

Very effective at the start of the conflict, the TB2 combat drones now seem neutralized by jamming and Russian anti-aircraft defense in the Donbass, forcing the Ukrainian air forces to carry out very dangerous piloted missions in this theater
