Traditionally, the period which separates the presidential election from the inauguration, and which is particularly long in the United States since it lasts more than 2 months, is devoted to the handover of key files between the two administrations, so as not to not create a break in the management of the country. But there is nothing traditional about Donald Trump. We will not return to the allegations of fraud on which the current president wants to base his legal recourses, regarding domestic political problems. On the other hand, it appears that, whatever the results of these appeals, the president in office for another 2 months until January 20, 2021, intends to impose certain files that he considers critical, and in particular in the military field.
According to the confidences of relatives of President Trump obtained by the American site BreakingDefense.com, the latter wishes to have the 2021 armed forces budget validated by Congress, and in particular the Senate still under Republican control, before January 20, under Joe Biden's nose. In particular, he wishes to note the increase in credits for the US Navy to begin the Navy 2045 program, aiming to have, on that date, a fleet of 500 combat units, including nearly 200 robotic or small-crew units, an objective that the president considers essential to be able to stand up to the rise of Chinese naval forces in the years to come.
