In a previous article, we returned to General Lavigne's statements, Chief of Staff of the National Assembly Army, on May 6. In the context of the current health and economic crisis, the French armies will be mobilized to participate in the economic recovery of the country. For the Air Force, this will mainly involve ordering new maneuver helicopters and speeding up deliveries of combat aircraft and transport and supply aircraft.
However, General Lavigne also raised the possibility of modernizing certain other equipment of the Air Force. Short-range ground-to-air defense systems (SHORAD) of the Rattlesnake-NG type were notably mentioned, even though their replacement did not seem for the moment for the moment foreseen by the Military Planning Law.
