Ten days ago, to everyone's surprise, the US Air Force announced that it had ended the Continuous Bomber Presence at Andersen AFB, Guam, in the Pacific. The day before, April 16, the five B-52H Stratofortress bombers still based there took off in order to return to Minot AFB, North Dakota.
According to the Pentagon, the end of this deployment was anticipated and is part of the new operational concept Dynamic Force Employment, which aims to make the movements of American forces more unpredictable and therefore difficult to counter. Until now, this has mainly resulted in more blurred communication around aircraft carrier deployments, even if the question of the pre-positioning of the bombers had been raised for a few weeks.
