US Navy commissioned USS Delaware, 18th Virginia-class attack submarine

On April 4, 2020, the nuclear attack submarine USS Delaware (SSN 791) has been commissioned in the US Navy, becoming the 18th submarine of this class to join the United States fleet. Laid down in April 2016 at the Huntington Ingalls Industries, Newport News shipyards, the submarine was launched on December 17, 2019. It is the last representative of the Block III series comprising 8 Virginia class ships ordered in 2008. The 10 next ships, representing the Block IV, were ordered in April 2014, and the first unit, the USS Vermont (SSN 792) is expected to be commissioned soon, by the end of April according to the schedule.
