No Arleigh Burke Destroyer for the Greek Navy

What a reversal of situation! (sarcasm)

During a press briefing between the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Hellenic Navy, Nikos Tsounis, and journalists from the country's defense sphere, the latter clarified that there was no no ongoing negotiations with the United States (translated version here) concerning a possible transfer of Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, as was previously announced by certain specialized Greek sites. The latter added that the question had been raised two years ago, but no follow-up had been given, the American Navy having no intention of parting with its Burke destroyers for the moment.

Like the Greek officer, we can therefore question the origin of such allegations, as well as the objective sought. The proximity of time and theme with the announcements made around the Franco-Greek FDI program seems to indicate that this was the target of this attempted disinformation. As for the desired goal, knowing that the truth would certainly not take long to emerge, it is, in all probability, an attempt to create mistrust between the two European allies, or to create a certain reserve in the population vis-à-vis regarding the current negotiations and the performance of the FDI frigate.

The Franco-Greek defense and intervention frigates (FDI) will use 32 vertical silos that can accommodate 24 Aster 15/30 missiles and 8 MdCN cruise missiles.

This is therefore the third attempt to fail the negotiations between Paris and Athens carried out from Washington, after the episode of Australian frigates Adelaide which ultimately did not have a missile, and that of 4 MMSC frigates at €2 billion, which ultimately reached €4 billion.
