It is rare to see the three American armies collaborate on technological development. However, this is what is happening today in order to develop a laser anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense system exceeding the threshold from 300 kw beyond which the weapon would be effective against cruise missiles and non-ballistic anti-ship missiles.
The three major corps of the American armed forces, theU.S. Army,US Navy and IUS Air Force, share the same appreciation of the threat represented by today's non-ballistic trajectory missiles which are available in large quantities in the Russian and Chinese arsenals, and which are rapidly becoming more widespread across the globe. If media attention is currently focused on hypersonic ballistic weapons, the reality of the threat, in the short and medium term, will be represented above all by cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles with a grazing trajectory, and missiles anti-aircraft attacks, targeting American forces, ships or aircraft.
