The Sovetsk corvette, hull number 252, second representative of the 22800 Karakurt light missile corvette project, was transferred to Lake Lagoda, to start its manufacturer tests, before being paid to the Baltic Fleet, to carry out its state tests, to be admitted to service before the end of 2019.
The Karakurt class ships weigh only 800 tons, for a length of 67m, are characteristic of the “Mosquito fleet” that the Russian Navy constitutes in order to control the interior seas, like the Baltic, the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. Although very small in size, these corvettes are remarkably well armed, carrying 8 silos that can implement Kalibr cruise missiles, or P800 Onyx supersonic anti-ship missiles. They also feature a Pantsir-M anti-aircraft protection system, as well as a 76mm naval gun.
