Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubier told a press conference at the United Nations that the Saudi Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, were considering the deployment of Islamic Military Alliance troops in Syria. This intervention echoes the statements of Prince Mohammed Ben Salman, the strongman of the kingdom and crown prince, during his tour in Europe 10 days ago.

The objective of this deployment would be to prevent Iran from realizing its stranglehold on Syria, while the Revolutionary Guards constituted one of the largest contingents that allowed Bashar al Assad to regain control in Syria.

Between the Turkish intervention against the Kurds in the North of Syria, the Israeli strikes against the positions of Hezbollah and the Iranians in the South, the pockets of resistance of Daesh and those of the ASL, and the Russian and Western interventions, The war in Syria is far from over, and could even intensify once Daesh is eliminated.

It is interesting to note that after Yemen, the Saudi kingdom and the UAE are once again acting together in steering the Islamic Military alliance, bringing together more than 20 Sunni countries, which could very well evolve into an alliance political, economic and military, on the model of the European Union, to become a global geopolitical actor.
